As
Many People, That many Styles
This blog
of the unusual title is about travel, particularly about the style of travel. Today the
world is a changed place. Present-day travellers are more demanding and bolder. However, there are unique travel styles that differentiate one type of
travel from others.
Let us look
at a few broad styles of travel. When discussed, these few styles of travel would cover most of the travellers.
Style 1 - The No Pain Travel.
These type
of travellers are the ones who pick up fixed departure fixed itinerary type of
tours. They also most probably demand to eat their type of food throughout the
tour. They are the main subscribers to the 11 days 9 nations type of tours. It
may look ridiculous to some but such tours suit this type of travellers who do not
want to take any burden and leave the total tasks on the tour company.
Style 2 - No Gain Without Pain Travel.
Proponents of this type of travel plan their own itinerary, duration of stay, places to
visits etc. Thereafter, they engage a travel company and finalize their
programme with this travel company after many iterations. Sometimes they ask
the travel company to give recommendations for the trip of a certain duration and
selected destinations and they work with the travel company to refine it. Once
the programme is finalized, they leave the arrangement for the travel Company.
They may or may not insist on their local food.
Style 3 - The Exploratory
Travel.
Such type
of travel is done by travellers who believe in Do it yourself. They do their own
research, they work and rework their itinerary and they do their own bookings,
visa, etc. They go on travel with a desire to experience things. They travel
by many modes like train, bus, aircraft, boat and even Car. They prefer staying
among locals in B & Bs or small hotels. They also mostly do sightseeing
on their own. They also go for experiencing local cuisine while catering for
their individual requirements of food restrictions.
Style 4 - More Crop
Per Drop (or Economized) Travel.
This type
of traveller is in contrast to the first two types and closer to the above
travel but with a major difference. This type of traveller undertaking the “More
Crop per Drop” (or more Bang for the Buck) type is focused on what he or she
wants out of the trip. The sights, the experiences, the Cuisines, the nightlife, the treks, etc. The stay comfort comes last in their priority. They are
mostly Backpackers and they mostly stay in hostels across the globe. Some of
them use complimentary stay with “Couchsurfing” hosts. They love to travel and
travel Raw. They believe in experience the countries and places as they are and
as close as the locals.
Which type
of travel is Better?
Style of
Travel is linked to an individual’s make up of the mind, desire to explore, degree
of Comfort needed, budget, etc. In the world of travel, there may be as many
styles as the number of travellers. There is nothing right and nothing wrong. All
styles are good and all styles have their plus and minus points.
The first
type costs a lot more but its hassle-free. It also helps in Check-off more
destinations and countries in less time. The second type is little more involved
where the traveller is aware of what he wants, at the same time, the traveller
also wants his / her comforts including type of Food, etc.
While the third travel style turns out to be optimizing the
cost, comfort, experience and desire to visit places of own choice. It does
involve much more effort on the part of traveller but that ensures a very considered travel
programme, optimization of time available and creation of an itinerary as per own liking, not to forget the knowledge that is gained while doing all the planning.
Forth type
of travel is meant for wanderers (and the word is used in good sense). This
type of travel is for those who believe in spending longer tie at each
destination and choice of Hostel dormitories, Low-cost bus travel between
cities etc. does help them extend their travel time in a limited budget.
So, which
is your travel Style? Whichever style you like is up to you, travel you must.
